1. What is the n-Billing?

The NDDigital n-Billing is a solution that seeks to accomplish Print Management across the enterprise, numbering printing, copy, fax, scan, controlling quotas, projects, etc. without the need for infrastructure at the customer environment. With this new concept of print environment management, cost reduction with printing in your company is guaranteed.

n-Billing offers precise information about your environment, with which you are able to safely control waste and also increase your business profitability.

With this tool you can get all your environment information through reports that can be issued filtering by cost Center, by printer, per-user or group, with a simple interface and zero administration.

In this system all the Print Management infrastructure is located at the NDDigital's Datacenter and to use this solution simply install the billing agents, as n-Client, n-Client cluster, n-MF, along with n-host in a Workstation or server where the print logs will be sent via HTTPS for the datacenter where they will be stored and made available to the customer or consultant through reports via the Web.

4. What are n-Billing installation prerequisites?

Because its database is located at the NDDigital Datacenter, n-Billing is simple to install and use and it requires just a few prerequisites, as follows:

  • Access to the Internet;
  • Linux operational system, FreeBSD, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 2003, Windows 2008;
  • Available space on disk for installation of 13 MB;
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0;
  • Port 5656 released on the local network for communication between modules.

For more information see the modules manuals for the solution.

5. Where should I install n-Host?

There are several scenarios, however, the modules installation is simple and depends on the environment:

5.1 Environments with one only print server

In this environment n-Host must be installed on the print server along with the n-Client and/or n-MF. Internet access is necessary.

5.2 Environments with more than one print server

In this environment n-Host must be installed on a print server along with the n-Client and/or n-MF with Internet access. In the other print servers n-Client must be installed which should point only to where the n-Host is installed.

5.3 Environments with no print server

In this environment n-Host must be installed on any of the stations with Internet access. The n-Client must be installed in all stations.

5.4 Environments with parallel printers

The n-Host must be installed on the print server with Internet access along with the n-Client and/or n-MF. The n-Client must be installed in all workstations which have local printers parallel or USB.

5.5 Environments with a print server without access to the Internet

In this case the n-Host must be installed on any workstation with Internet access and the n-Client and/or n-MF must be installed on the print server which will pass the data from the environment to the station for the n-Host that will transmit via Web to the n-Billing server.

5.6 Environment with Print cluster server

In this case the n-Host must be installed on a station with Internet access and the n-Cluster must be installed on the Nodes of the Print cluster which will pass the environment data to the n-Host that will transmit via Web to the n-Billing server.

Note: On the environments displayed above installing the n-Spy is possible, which allows project assignment to printed jobs, and n-Security module which prints the user ID, date and time of printing on printed pages. Both are installed in the location where the n-Client is installed.

6. How can I account print servers and local (slave) printers?

Is simple. In these cases simply install the n-Host on a server or workstation (which is constantly turned on) with Internet access on your network and install n-Client in other print servers and/or workstations with slave printers. In other words, the n-Client must be installed on all stations/servers which generate print spool and must point to the workstation or server where the n-Host is installed.

7. How can I generate reports?

After installing the software simply access the n-Billing server, login and access the Report icon, choose the type of report, apply the filters according to your need and click on 'Generate Report'. The data synchronization is done by default in every 4 hours with the sending of logs to the datacenter. Besides normal reports it is still possible to generate graphical reports which facilitate the understanding and cross the data according to your interest.

8. How does the n-Billing communication work? Will my information be secure?

The data transmission from your environment with the n-Billing DataCenter is done by a secure channel (SSL) where the data is encrypted with 128 bit key and travels through the port 443 from the Internet. In addition to all these safety features, the data can still go in scheduled times without burdening your network.

9. What will be the network data traffic created by the n-Billing?

The NDDigital n-Billing transmitted data has a harmless impact on your network because the data is small, text only and travel compressed. For each 1000 printed jobs, transit in the network a file with approximately 9 KB.
